How To: Test antenna and transmitter on a fast link radio system

The equipment that is needed is a watt meter, a fixed 10 db attenuator, and a 50 Ohm dummy load.

Place the watt meter in line with the transmitter and antenna. When the transmitter is powered up you should read 1.8 to 2 watts forward power and .1 watts reflected power.

  1. Send a RF signal to the central station by pushing the reset button on the C601 encoder. Make sure that the central station received all signals that were sent.
  2. Place the fixed 10 db attenuator in line with the watt meter, transmitter and antenna. Send another RF signal by pushing the reset button on the C601 encoder again. Make sure the central station has received all RF signals.
  3. Remove all test equipment from the transmitter and antenna. Reinstall antenna and test one more time. Make sure that the central station has received all RF test signals.
