How to configure the D4412 or D6412 for Point Expansion using Keypad Programming.
The D4412 and D6412 can use point expansion using:
- On-Board Doubling
- DX2010 8 point wired expander
- DX2010 8 point wired expander using point doubling
Important Notes:
- Never use Normally Open wiring for doubled points. Faulting either point will generate a short on both doubled points.
- Point 1 is a powered point for 2-wire smoke detectors and cannot be doubled with point 9. Only points 2 thru 8 can be doubled with points 10 thru 16.
Access programming with Keypad:
- Ensure no areas are armed and close the installer switch.
- Enter the installer code (default=6543) into a command center.
- Press Command+4+1.
- Select 8 from the menu list.
- Enter the ‘Nibble’ as described and press CMD. The Nibble appears.
- Enter the data-digit and press the star key ( * ) to save the data entry.
- Return to step ‘e’ to continue with the next data entry.
- When programming is complete press and hold the Cmd button to exit programming and open the reset pin to return to normal operation.
Example:
- Go to Nibble 1026 and enter 4 for Point Doubled, 2.2k & 3.65k EOL.
- Press 1026 and Command, the keypad displays: Nib:1026 D=x (where X= the current data value; default =2).
- Press 4 and [ * ] (star key) to save the data entry.

- Enter the ‘Nibble’ as described and press CMD. The Nibble appears.
- Enter the data-digit and press the star key ( * ) to save the data entry.
- Return to step ‘5’ to continue with the next data entry.
On-Board Point Doubling:
- Go to Nibble 1026 and enter 4 for Point Doubled, 2.2k & 3.65k EOL.
- Program the points to be doubled as On-Board.
- Select the correct Nibble from Figure 1 for the location to program and enter 1 for On-Board.
Program and address for the Wired Point Expander (not using point doubling):
- Select Device.
- Select the correct Nibble from Figure 3 for the point location and enter 2 for Wired Point Expander.
- Address the DX2010 for the correct group of points.
Program and address for the Wired Point Expander using point doubling:
- Select the correct Nibble for the point location to be programmed from Figure 3 and enter 3 for Doubled Wired Point Expander. Also use the EOL shown in figure 3 when doubling points.
Set the DX2010 dipswitches for address 106 or 107:
