Does the Autodome starlight 5100i IR camera work with a PoE switch or Bosch midspan?

Question

Does the Autodome starlight 5100i IR camera work with a PoE switch or Bosch midspan?

Answer

The following behaviors were observed during testing:

  1. When connecting the "AUTODOME IP starlight 5100i IR"on the Barox POE++ switch nothing happens.  The camera does not react and the switch port doesn`t light up.
  2. When connecting the "AUTODOME IP starlight 5100i IR" to a non-PoE switch via midspans (Bosch Midspan 95W → NPD-9501A & Midspan 60W → NPD-6001B), also there is no react. The "Port led" from the Midspan don´t light and no power get out. Tested this with Bosch 95W midspans and with Microsemi 60W midspans.

  • In principle, the Autodome starlight 5100i IR camera (NDP-5523-Z30L) may only be operated with switches, midspans or PoE injectors that meet the EEE802.3bt standard! - Or use 24VAC.**
  • This camera needs PoE-Power with IEEE802.3bt standard. IEEE802.3at doesn´t work.

See camera datasheet for the power requirements, and check the product catalogue for the various compatible (bt) midspans
