How is the best way of transition from the Project Assistant to (B)VMS?

Answer

Use the Project Assistant to its full extent and once the cameras are connected to the target network, perform a network scan using the BVMS Configuration Client, to add the respective cameras to the system.

The remaining fine-grained settings can then be tackled within BVMS.
