How to connect and configure the management port on a DSA E2800 unit?
This article is helpful to configure ports when connecting a PC directly to the DSA E2800 via console cable using CLI.
Keep in mind that the exact steps might vary slightly depending on the firmware version and your network setup.
Step-by-step guide
1. Connect to the Management Port
Physically Connect: connect your management station (such as a laptop or PC) directly to the management port on the unit.
Set a Static IP on Your PC: Configure your PC’s network interface with a static IP address in the same subnet as the default management port IP.
For example, if the unit’s management port is set to a default of 192.168.1.1, choose an address like 192.168.1.2 with a matching subnet mask.
2. Access the Unit’s Management Interface
Launch a Web Browser: Open your preferred browser and enter the IP address assigned to the management port.
Login: You will be prompted for credentials. Use the default username/password if the unit is still at factory settings (“admin”) or use your custom credentials if already changed.
3. Configure the Management Port Settings
Navigate to the Network Settings: Within the management interface, find the configuration or network settings section. This is where you can adjust IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and possibly DNS servers.
Enter the New Settings: Input the desired IP address and network parameters. Make sure the new IP does not conflict with other devices on your network.
Save/Apply Changes: Confirm the changes. The unit may require a reboot or reinitialization of the management interface for the settings to take effect.
4. Verify the Configuration
Reconnect (if necessary): If you changed the management port’s IP, update your management station’s network settings accordingly so you can reconnect.
Ping/Test: Use a ping or similar network utility from your PC to verify that the management port is reachable at the new IP address.
5. Document and Secure
Change Default Credentials: If not already done, change the default login credentials to secure the unit.
Nowadays, usually, the Santricity WEB GUI is used to do configuration and the scripting can be used to force reboot or perform other tasks. In BOSCH use-cases the BMS is not mandatory.
