What's new about Cameras Keenfinity Root CA - Certificate Authority?

Question

What's new about Cameras Keenfinity Root CA - Certificate Authority?

Answer

As part of our company’s transition to a new organizational structure, we are updating the device certificates used in our security cameras. This change is essential to maintain secure and trusted connections.

During the next weeks, we will begin shipping cameras with new certificates, which require the latest software to avoid certificate trust errors.

  • All Cameras produced since 8th May 2025 will come with the New Keen.tech Root CA.

What’s Changing?

New root Certificate Authority (CA):
We are migrating from the Bosch to the Keen.tech Root CA, reflecting our new identity under Keenfinity.

Certificate format:
The certificate format remains RSA 4096, ensuring continued strong encryption and compatibility.

New certificate supplier:
Certificates will now be issued by DigiCert, a globally trusted authority known for robust security and compliance.

Impact on Devices:

  • Cameras manufactured before the change will continue using Bosch Root CA certificates.

  • Cameras manufactured after the change will use Keen.tech Root CA certificates.

  • Our systems and client environments will recognize and trust both certificate types, ensuring backward compatibility and seamless device operation.

What you need to do:
To ensure uninterrupted access and avoid certificate trust errors, please update your client software to the following versions or newer:

  • Configuration Manager: version 7.75.0172

  • Video Security Client/App: version 3.8.0

Older versions may display certificate warnings, even though the devices remain secure.

No impact on BVMS or third-party systems:
There is no expected impact on third-party Video Management Systems (VMS) or Bosch Video Management System (BVMS).
