Why does the audio or mic sensitivity revert to default on Bosch cameras connected to Milestone VMS?

Question

Why does the audio/mic sensitivity revert to default on Bosch cameras connected to Milestone VMS?

Answer

If this configuration was done on the camera and not in the VMS, the behavior you're experiencing is as expected when Bosch cameras are connected to a Video Management System (VMS) like Milestone. In this setup, the management server periodically pushes configuration settings, including time settings, to the cameras via the ONVIF protocol. This can result in changes you make, such as adjusting the audio/mic sensitivity, being overwritten.

To resolve the issue, follow these steps:

  1. Check the Management Server: Ensure the time settings on the server are properly configured. Incorrect time settings may cause the camera configurations to revert.
  2. Verify Firmware Compatibility: Ensure the firmware version you're using on the cameras is compatible with the Milestone VMS. You can find the compatibility matrix here.
  3. Check the Device Pack Version: Go to Windows > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and verify the version of the Milestone Device Pack running on your server.
  4. Consult Milestone Support: If the issue persists, reach out to Milestone Support for guidance on configuring the time settings for integrated encoders in your VMS.

This must be taken into account regardless of the VMS, such as BVMS, Milestone or other VMS 3rd parties.
