Can BVMS Op. Client receive live video from Bosch cameras using fixed and pre-configured TCP ports?
Question
Can BVMS Op. Client receive live video from Bosch cameras using fixed and pre-configured TCP ports?
Answer
The BVMS Operator Client connects to the camera using the camera’s configured TCP port. This port is used by the BVMS Operator Client as a destination port.
The source port is dynamic and therefore, it cannot be adjusted.
To understand TCP video streaming, the client sets up a TCP tunnel to the camera via the configured camera port and then the camera sends the stream to the client via this connection.
For each Video IP device from Bosch in your system you can establish a more reliable connection if required. This can be useful if you have for example connection losses due to high network load. You enable TCP for a selected camera to achieve a more reliable connection.
For all cameras of an entire workstation the system administrator can configure that the default protocol is TCP or UDP. For a single camera you can override the default protocol.
Note: From encoder firmware version 7.0, it is possible to display secure UDP for BVIP encoders. You can switch between TCP and UDP for live video of an encoder.
If you are using older firmware versions and the administrator activated the encryption for live video of an encoder in Configuration Client, TCP is selected by default and it is not possible to disable TCP.
See User Manual (page 55) and learn about how to enable TCP/ UDP.
