Do CPP13 and CPP14 cameras have restrictions related to firewalls?
Question
Do CPP13 and CPP14 cameras have restrictions related to firewalls?
Answer
Yes. According to their Release Notes, both CPP13 and CPP14 includes security mechanism in their firmware that block several communication ports by default:
Release Letter for CPP13 FW 8.93.0031:
“The mechanism to block the HTTP, RTSP, iSCSI, and RCP+ ports by default, introduced in firmware 8.90.0027 for CPP13, has been updated. Starting with firmware 8.93.0031, if these ports were previously open, they will remain open after upgrading from an earlier version.”
Release Letter for CPP14 FW 9.43.0010:
“To seamlessly operate Genetec Stratocast, port 80, HTTP, and RTSP must be opened. These are now disabled by default on our devices to enhance security, so new devices will require manual configuration to enable these settings and integrate with Stratocast.”
Note: Keep in mind that manual configuration of the blocked ports is required to allow proper communication and video streaming.
