Does the switch show IP address, device name and camera type for Bosch cameras while LLDP is enabled?
Question
Does the switch show IP address, device name and camera type for Bosch cameras while LLDP is enabled?
Answer
When viewing Bosch cameras via LLDP on network switches, device identification differs depending on the CPP platform.
Device Identification:
Older platforms than CPP 7.3 advertise:
The actual device name
The MAC address
CPP 7.3 platforms advertise:
According to FW 7.92.0029 Release Note: LLDP capabilities have been expanded to include additional TLVs for enhanced network integration, monitoring, and management. By default, cameras now support: TLV 4 (Port Description), TLV 5 (System Name), TLV 6 (System Description), TLV 7 (System Capabilities), and TLV 8 (Management Address), allowing network administrators to collect more detailed device information for improved automation, diagnostics, and security policy enforcement.
CPP 13 platforms (RTOS & Android) advertise:
System Name: localhost
System Description / Camera Type: Linux
As a result, CPP 13 cameras are not identifiable by their model’s name or camera type via LLDP and may appear as generic Linux devices on the switch.
This behavior for Bosch cameras is by design and cannot be changed via configuration.
IP Address Visibility:
For all platforms:
The IP address is not advertised via LLDP
Network switches display the IP address as 0.0.0.0
This behavior is independent of:
DHCP being enabled or disabled
Static IP configuration
Switch vendor or model
This functionality will not be implemented or changed for RTOS and Android CPP13 platforms.
Recommended:
If required, for CPP 7.3 and older CPP versions: you can try to use the camera Device Name and change its name to its IP Address to display the IP address, as the System Name is transmitted via LLDP
For all CPP platforms: use Configuration Manager to obtain the IP address and complete device information for all cameras
