What causes certain time periods to show no traffic on the VRM?
Question
What causes certain time periods to show no traffic on the VRM?
Answer
This issue can occur when alternate IP addresses are configured on the Network Interface Card (NIC) of the VRM server. VRM does not support the use of alternate IP addresses.
As a result, the system may intermittently switch, or “bounce” between the different IP addresses, leading to time periods where no traffic is recorded on the VRM, as seen below:

This behavior can also result in inability to playback past recordings, even if the retention period is correctly configured (for example, 31 days). The inconsistent IP addressing may prevent the VRM from accessing or indexing recorded data properly.
Important:
Multiple NICs or multiple alternate IP addresses cannot be used on a VRM server. Only a single, supported IP configuration must be applied to ensure stable recording and playback.
