Question
Can I configure the first-time device password for IQSIGHT cameras (formerly Bosch Video Systems) directly in Milestone XProtect?
Answer
Yes. As of Milestone XProtect Device Pack 14.2, released on May 28 2026, it is possible to configure the first-time camera device password directly within Milestone XProtect when onboarding supported IQSIGHT cameras.
This removes the need to use a separate configuration tool during initial camera setup.
Key Details:
-
Supported driver: IQSIGHT (formerly Bosch Video Systems) driver for Milestone XProtect
-
Supported camera platforms by this driver: CPP13, CPP14, CPP15, CPP16
-
The password prompt appears during first-time device onboarding in the XProtect Management Client
-
Only the following special characters are supported when setting the password in XProtect:
-
“!” (exclamation mark)
-
“_” (underscore)
-
Example Use Case:
A system integrator installs new IQSIGHT cameras at a customer site and adds them directly to Milestone XProtect. During onboarding, the installer sets the first-time device password within XProtect, without launching any additional camera configuration tools - saving time and simplifying commissioning.
Benefits:
-
Streamlines camera onboarding by keeping all setup steps within Milestone XProtect
-
Saves time for system integrators and installers
-
Reduces operational complexity and tool switching
-
Improves deployment efficiency, especially in larger installations
