How to apply a BVMS Patch?

Applying patches to your BVMS (Bosch Video Management System) is a process designed to enhance system performance and fix known issues without causing downtime. Here’s a concise guide on how to correctly apply a BVMS patch and important considerations to keep in mind.

Step-by-step guide

1 Prepare the System

Before beginning the patch installation, ensure that both the Configuration Client and Operator Client are completely closed. This is crucial to prevent conflicts during the patching process.

2 Install the Patch

  • Unzip the Patch File: Extract the contents of the patch archive to a convenient location.

  • Run as Administrator: Locate the .exe patch file, right-click on it, and select Run as administrator. This ensures the patch has the necessary permissions to update the server components.

The installation will proceed on the server without causing any system downtime or requiring a reboot. After the patch installation completes, you can safely reopen the Configuration Client and resume your work.

3 Verify and Troubleshoot

Typically, no further actions are needed, and your system will operate with the patch applied. However, if the issue the patch is intended to resolve persists, a server reboot may be necessary to fully implement the changes. Plan this reboot carefully to minimize disruption.

Where to Find BVMS Patches?

BVMS patches are accessible through the Product catalog or in the Download Store.

It’s important to note the availability of patches depends on their support status:

  • Active Support: Patches are readily available for download.

  • Limited Support or End of Life (EOL): Patches are no longer publicly available in the Product Catalog or Download Store.

According to the ”Software Service and Support Policy” for versions in limited support or EOL status, patches can be requested through the Central Technical Support Team, depending on the severity of the issue. They handle these requests, ensuring necessary hotfixes are supplied when critical.

For detailed information on how to request patches for legacy software versions, refer to the KEENFINITY Video support - Firmware and Software requests

By following this guide, you can ensure a smooth patching process for your BVMS environment, maintaining system stability while addressing critical updates.
