Which are the options for accessing, viewing, and managing video security cameras and DIVAR IP remotely?

Question

Which are the options for accessing, viewing, and managing video security cameras and DIVAR IP remotely?

Answer

1. BVMS Operator Client via Secure Remote Connection

One option is to run the BVMS Operator Client on a remote workstation that connects to the site network through a secure connection such as a VPN or via SSH tunnelling.

This provides full access to live and recorded video, depending on the user permissions and system configuration.

For SSH tunnelling guidance, please refer to the Remote access chapter from the BVMS - System design guide (page 34) within this article and we also recommend to check the BVMS Operation Manual (page 33).

2. VideoView+ Services

Another option is the VideoView+ services which provide an easy-to-use and secure solution to remotely access your Bosch IP cameras (VideoView+ for cameras) or DIVAR IP systems (VideoView+ for DIVAR IP) that are connected to Remote Portal by using Video Security Client/Video Security App. You can access your devices from all over the world and at any time.
All camera connections and DIVAR IP connections are outbound and do not require port-forwarding settings.
The VideoView+ services enable live remote streaming via Video Security Client as well as replay and export of recorded videos from a DIVAR IP device or an SD card source.

Event notification:

The event notification feature remotely informs users about triggered events via push notifications with Video Security Client. Improve real-time decision making by optimizing your remote monitoring setup with VideoView+:

• Generate event lists (all OS platforms).

• Manage incidents and critical events on monitored sites.

• Enable push alarm notifications (iOS and Android) for swift and effective responses to alarm events.

VideoView+ for cameras: Event clip cloud recording:

With VideoView+ for cameras, benefit from 10‑second event clip cloud recording with a 30-day retention time, keeping essential evidence safe for future investigation.

2.1. Web applications

The provided web applications consist of Remote Portal and Alarm Management. The VideoView+ license management and the VideoView+ service activation is integrated in Remote Portal. While the push event notification service configuration of VideoView+ for cameras is contained in the web interface of Alarm Management, all other VideoView+ service configurations are performed in Remote Portal.

2.2. Mobile/Desktop applications

VideoView+ services can only be used with Video Security Client/Video Security App: Video Security Client and Video Security App focus on on-demand live streaming and access to the cameras for staff that is not on-site.

Video Security App & Video Security Client

The Video Security application can be used for remote monitoring of IP cameras and DIVAR IP appliances (servers).

License requirement

Because the Video Security Client and App use cloud-based access, VideoView+ licenses are required.

*VideoView+ Requirements for DIVAR IP

Please note that specific prerequisites must be met when using VideoView+ with DIVAR IP.
These ensure compatibility, secure access, and optimal performance.

Refer to: VideoView+ for DIVAR IP Prerequisites
(including steps for configuring DIVAR IP AIO for access via Video Security Client or App through Remote Portal)

BVMS Requirements for Push Notifications

To enable push alarm notifications via VideoView+, the system must run BVMS 13.0 or higher.

Updating BVMS depends on the Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA) status.

See: How to check the Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA) status of BVMS version 11.x or higher via Remote Portal?

(info) Note:
You can upgrade BVMS up to the latest version released before the SMA end date.
