Can BVMS Viewer connect to a full BVMS installation (non-Viewer)?

Question

Can BVMS Viewer connect to a full BVMS installation (non-Viewer)?

Answer

No, this is not possible.

For example, if BVMS Viewer is installed on a workstation and you attempt to connect to a system running BVMS Professional on a DIVAR IP, the connection will not be possible—even if both devices are in the same IP range. In such cases, the connection option will appear greyed out.

This behavior is due to software limitations and incompatibility between BVMS Viewer and full BVMS installations (Lite/Plus/Professional).

To establish a connection, you must:

  • install the full BVMS package on the workstation

  • ensure the BVMS version matches the version installed on the DIVAR IP.

Additional issue after installing full BVMS

In some cases, even after installing the full BVMS package on the workstation, the connection to the server may still fail.

This issue may occur due to the previous BVMS Viewer processes which may remain active after uninstallation, preventing the proper operation of the full BVMS system.

If this issue occurs, the solutions are:

  • reinstall Windows on the workstation to ensure a clean environment

  • use a different workstation with no prior BVMS Viewer installation
