What could cause new DINION thermal 8100i cameras not to be detected on the network?

Question

What could cause new DINION thermal 8100i cameras not to be detected on the network?

Answer

If new DINION thermal 8100i cameras are not detected when scanning the network using Configuration Manager, the following conditions may be present:

  • The camera is receiving PoE (indicated by the LEDs)

  • The camera shows an APIPA address in other network scanner tool (e.g., Advanced IP Scanner)

  • The camera does not respond to ping

  • The camera’s web interface is not accessible

This behavior indicates that the issue may be caused by the DHCP server, as the camera is not obtaining an IP address from it.

To resolve the issue and allow the cameras to be detected normally, check if the DHCP is properly configured or is properly functioning. In some cases, it may be necessary to bring a new DHCP server.
