What is DMR (Defective Media Retention) service?
For every DIP-74 unit a HDD retention service can be bought by the customer. HDD retention service is applicable for both, solid state drives (SSD) and hard disk drives (HDD).
End user/customer must provide a serial number of each drive that shall retain under this Service, and complete documentation provided by acknowledging the retention of the hard drive.
This service ...
... allows the end user/customer to retain the defective HDD and receive a replacement HDD installed by an Authorized Technician (at end user/customer location) after the failure of the HDD has been confirmed by the Authorized Technician. The retained HDD will not be subject to any ongoing support.
... supports an unlimited amount of hard disk drives (“HDD”) and covers the original built-in HDD supplied with your ASUS product and replacement HDD installed by Authorized Technicians in accordance with the terms of this service.
End user/customer responsibilities:
End users/customers are required to mention at the time of requesting on-site service, whether they would like to make use of this HDD Retention service.
It is the end users/customers responsibility to keep “physical control” of the defective HDD and ensure that personal, confidential or proprietary data on the defective HDD is destroyed or remains secure.
It is the end users/customers responsibility to dispose of the defective HDD according to the locally applicable laws and regulations.
The end user/customer or an authorized representative is required to sign the HDD Retention document or repair report provided by ASUS field engineer to acknowledge the retention of the HDD.
The end user/customer or an authorized representative must provide ASUS field engineer with identification information such as the serial number for each drive under this service.
Note: This service does not apply to any drive provided not purchased for DIP-74 from Bosch.
Important: Product registration is a prerequisite for providing technical support!
