Why are SNMP traps not being sent on my DIVAR IP all-in-one 7000 gen 4 (DIP-74xx)?
Question
Why are SNMP traps not being sent on my DIVAR IP all-in-one 7000 gen 4 (DIP-74xx)?
Answer
It may happen that you have followed the user manual to configure SNMP traps on your DIP-74CI-8HD, but no traps are being sent. Wireshark may also show no SNMP traffic at all, even though the destination settings are correct.
If SNMP traps are configured and still not being received, the issue is likely related to a known problem in earlier versions of the ASUS Inband Tool used by the system.
In Inband Tool version 1.19.1, a malfunction in the Inband SNMP agent prevents SNMP traps from being sent, even when the configuration is correct. This affects both SNMP monitoring and trap generation. Additionally, the DIP-74 series is designed primarily for SNMP v3, so SNMP v2 functionality is limited unless supported by newer tool versions.
The solution for this behavior is to update to the latest Inband Tool version.
With Inband Tool 1.27.03 and later, SNMP traps are correctly sent, and the tool supports SNMP v3 by default while allowing SNMP v2 as a fallback. The improved package Inband_Tool_1.28.09_SystemManager_package_1.0 has been released specifically to resolve SNMP issues on DIVAR IP all-in-one 7000 4th gen (DIP-74xx) systems. This update also addresses requests for improved PSU monitoring.
After installing the new version, some systems may require a full default reset and a clean reinstall of the Inband Tool. Users have confirmed that performing these steps and adding the necessary OIDs restored correct SNMP trap behavior, including PSU-related alerts and test traps.
This updated version ensures that SNMP traps are transmitted properly and that PSU monitoring works as expected.
