Why does the MIC IP fusion 9000i display Status 5 on-screen display (OSD)?

Question

Why does the MIC IP fusion 9000i display Status 5 on-screen display (OSD)?

Answer

When a MIC IP fusion 9000i shows Status 5 on the on-screen display (OSD), this indicates a power-related condition rather than a functional failure.

Status 5 appears when the camera is operating with redundant power sources and detects insufficient voltage from the external High PoE power source.

To resolve this condition, verify the following:

  1. Ensure the High PoE power source (midspan or switch) provides 95 W output power.

  2. Confirm that the network cable (Cat5e/Cat6e) does not exceed 100 meters in length.

  3. If using the 95W High PoE Midspan (NPD-9501A), verify that both LEDs are green. If not, consult the midspan installation manual troubleshooting section.

  4. If a third-party PoE source is used, contact the manufacturer to confirm it meets the 95 W requirement.

The complete list of status codes, descriptions, and recommended actions can be found in the user manual of the MIC IP fusion 9000i (see page 69).

Recommended power sources are also listed in the camera datasheet under the accessories section.
